Helen White was born in Britain in 1977 and has lived in Ghent, Belgium, since 2000.

She co-founded the Krikri polypoetry collective, which organised festivals, exhibitions, workshops and other events with the emphasis on experimental, cross-genre and lesser-known forms of poetry and language arts from 2001 until 2011. This included infusoria, an exhibition of visual poetry by women, which she curated in 2009.

Recent exhibits have included installations of visual poetry at the Gorettikapel in Tilburg (NL), the Logos Foundation in Ghent (BE) and the Normo coffee bar in Antwerp (BE) and contributions to visual poetry exhibitions worldwide. In 2011 her installation soluble colonies was commissioned by the Text Festival (Manchester, UK), combining text with items from Bury Museum's permanent collection.

From about 2010 onwards, she began to introduce elements of performance, audio and film into her otherwise mainly visual practice. She has recently given performances at the ArtCinema OFFoff in Ghent, De Werkplaats Verschuift in Antwerp, the Antwerp Book Fair and Signal Center för Samtidskonst in Malmö, Sweden. In 2012 she also made two film poems in collaboration with Svend Thomsen/TVF and Sebastian Bradt. She has collaborated with composers and performers at the Logos Foundation in Ghent and was a member of the Juxtavoices Antichoir in Sheffield in 2012, performing in Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool.

She has published in magazines including Kluger Hans and Deus Ex Machina in Belgium, and B after C, Foursquare and Karagöz abroad. Online magazine contributions include Drunken Boat (here and here), Otoliths (here and here), Joyland Poetry, PeepShow and Trickhouse.

Her poem holding appeared as a poster from Paper Kite Press in 2009 and her chapbook How to Quote Visual Poetry is no. 94 in the postfluxpostbooklets series. She has also published an untitled chapbook here.

Her work has been published in the anthologies Zieteratuur, ed. Karel ten Haaf (Uitgeverij Passage, Groningen, 2010), A Global Visuage, eds. Jörg Piringer und Günter Vallaster (edition ch, Vienna, 2012) and The Last Vispo Anthology: Visual Poetry 1998-2008, eds. Crag Hill & Nico Vassilakis (Fantagraphics, USA, 2012. She also contributed to the collaborative project Local Colour: Ghosts, variations, ed. Ola Ståhl (In Edit Mode, Malmö, 2012).
