5th international krikri festival of polypoetry

  • What? The fifth and (for now) the final international polypoetry festival. poetry beyond your wildest dreams. this year with poets from Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Soundland, the US, Japan and Belgium. Our guest of honour is no less than Gerhard Rühm.

    Monday 17 April 2006 ArtCinema Off Off (20:00-22:00)

    Polypoetic films. The programme includes unique poetry films by and featuring Paul de Vree, Alain Arias-Misson and Arthur Pétronio, plus extracts from previous Krikri festivals. You will also be able to see the premiere showing of films by Emilie Lauwers and Jerry Heymans and a fragment from "De bloemen (The flowers)" by Jan Pollet, Ilse Selhorst and Johan Pycke.

    Thursday 20 April 2006 Galerie Link (20:00-22:00)

    A sound poetry programme with Godfried-Willem Raes and Moniek Darge, performing sound poetry by Ernst Jandl, Kurt Schwitters, Isidore Isou, François Dufrêne, Nam June Paik and others. See Logos for more information. These works will be combined with a “draggin-performance” by the American multimedia artist Lewis Gesner.

    Friday 21 April 2006 Galerie Link (18:30-22:00)

    18:30 Opening of the exhibition by Gerhard Rühm, and presentation of his book by Zegwerk vzw. Official opening by Frank Beke, Mayor of Ghent Foreword by Erika Bernhard (Österreichisches Kulturforum) and Erik de Smedt (translator) (The exhibition, with work by Gerhard Rühm, André Naessens and Alain Arias-Misson, will be open until Thursday 27 April, from 15:00 to 19:00 each day)

    19:30 onwards Performances by Jan Cherlet, Dirk Veulemans, Tomma Wessel, Dirk Moelants & Hiroko Masaki and a performance by guest of honour Gerhard Rühm.

    *extra*: Public Poem by Alain Arias-Misson. during the afternoon, in the centre of Ghent. He starts 13:45 at station Gent Sint-Pieters and follows this route: Konigin-Astridlaan - Citadelpark - Kunstlaan - St-Pietersnieuwstraat -
    Koestraat - Magdaleinstraat - St-Baafsplein - Belfortstraat - Vrijdagmarkt -
